Montauk is the greatest "catch" around. With awesome fishing and surfcasting it is a fisherman's dream come true. Charter a boat for the day and drift to the song of the ocean.

Montauk is a fishing town and if you are leaving without having caught your very own, shame on you. Montauk restaurants' don't say "you hook' em, we cook' em" for nothin'. There are charter boats for small groups, party boats for large groups and, if you are partial to seasickness, you can stay on shore and go surfcasting. There are rules and regulations when it comes to fishing. Saltwater fishing is pretty simple... no residency or license required. However, freshwater fishing is a whole different ball game and requires residency and a license. Check with your front desk for the tourist fishing do's and don'ts.

Montauk is the land of miles and miles of shoreline and is home of some of the most beautiful beaches the world has to offer. Hither Hills State Park 668.2554 has one of the best ocean beaches and also permits camping. Gin Beach, located at the end of East Lake Drive, requires an East Hampton Town permit so check with your front desk for availability, but this beach has all the amenities one needs for a day on the sand. If surfing is your gig, then Ditch Plains located off Ditch Plains and DeForest Road is your beach. This beach also has the necessary facilities, including rest rooms, lifeguard, and concession stand, and yes, Ditch Plains also requires the ever-popular town permit. Do you like water sports? So, what does one do in Montauk if the weather god decides that all the locally grown produce needs a little irrigation? Don't worry, Montauk has plenty of alternatives. Go spend a day of beauty and get pampered at Gurney's Inn Health & Beauty Spa 668.2345 on Old Montauk Highway. The worst that might happen is sharing the Finnish Rock Sauna with Goldie Hawn.
